Obedience

Even if you're not the competitive kind, training is necessary of for all dogs and benificial to your entire family. Every dog owner should consider some form of obedience training for their dog. It's the best way to establish good communication skills between you and your dog and to make sure your dog is well behaved. Training helps correct annoying behaviors like jumping, digging, barking, and chewing, keeping your dog entertained and happy.

As one of the AKC's oldest events, Obedience was developed in the 1930's as a way to train your dog and to take training to a new level by participating in Obedience "Trials". These trials demonstrate your dogs ability to stay, walk on or off leash, jump, retreive, come when called. All behaviours that translate into a well behaved dog at home,in public, and in the presence of other dogs.

All dogs, purebread or mix berrds are welcome to participate in AKC obedience training classes. These classes are taught by experienced trainers who have won obedience competitions with their own dogs. The trainers know the latest training techniques, are familiar with training all breeds of dogs, and may even be able to help solve behavior problems through training. No matter your your skill level or if you wish to compete or not in trials. Obedience training and classes are the most valuable training you can do with your dog.
